Ask them to write an essay, in 500 words or less, about
why they think having positive self-esteem can stamp out bullying.
First prize for the winning essay is a $500.00 US Savings Bond.

2010-2011 Essay Contest Rules and Regulations: All entries must be original, legible, double-spaced and submitted on 8 Â½ x 11 white paper or emailed to HeyUGLY@heyugly.org in WORD format. Entrant's name, age, grade, school, home address, and phone number must be clearly printed, in black ink, on the entry. Contestants may enter contest more than once. Must be 7 - 19 to enter. Void where prohibited by law. Entries must be mailed to Hey U G L Y Essay Contest, c/o Hey U.G.L.Y. Inc., PO Box 345, Rolling Prairie, IN 46371 or emailed to HeyUGLY@heyugly.org. All entries must be postmarked no later than May, 31, 2011. All entries submitted for judging will become the exclusive property of Hey U.G.L.Y., Inc. and will not be returned to entrants. To determine the winner, all entries submitted will be judged on sincerity, creativity, composition, originality, and clarity of message. An independent panel of writers and journalists will conduct judging. Judging will take place on or about July 15, 2011. Decisions of judges are final. Winner will be notified, by mail, no later than September 15, 2010. First Prize: $500.00 U.S. Savings Bond (nonmaturity value, $250.00). To receive a written letter noting the winner, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope by October 15, 2011. Winner need not be present to win. All taxes and any expenses not indicated herein are the sole responsibility of the winner. Any prize returned as undeliverable will be awarded to an alternate winner. Entry and acceptance of prize constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) for sponsor and anyone it may authorize to use winners' names, photographs or other likenesses, biographical information, hometowns and statements concerning the contest for purposes of advertising and promotion without compensation to the winner. Employees of the Hey U.G.L.Y., Inc., its affiliated companies, participating partners and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies and their immediate families are not eligible. Not responsible for lost, late illegible, mutilated, postage-due, misdirected mail, typographical or other errors. Photocopied or mechanically reproduced entries are not eligible.
